Project Description

The young customers wanted to update a 2006 vessel with all new soft goods: sun pads, exterior cockpit, helm U-shaped table seating, master and V-berth bedding. We were asked during the fall of 2014 to work on the project winter of 2015 and have it completed by April 2015. We researched fabric that would complement the name of vessel—Mahalo—and the owners’ love of their annual trips to Hawaii. We had to find unique fabrics with a Hawaiian theme that would stand up to elements and were marine grade. Based in New England, we don’t often work with palm tree themes. Once we sourced the palm tree themed fabric, the customers loved it so much they wanted to use it in the largest seating area. We had to make sure the large repeat could match up perfectly in several sections and in the U shape. Keeping this all labeled and in place during production of all sewing was very important.
